History
The Multiple Store was started in 1999 as an independent not-for-profit company (company limited by guarantee) by founders Nicholas Sharp and Sally Townsend. Our aims were to commission new work by some of the best contemporary British artists, to encourage a culture of collecting by selling the work at inexpensive prices; and to provide opportunities for artists to explore new mate-rials and processes.
We were based in the School of Art, Central Saint Martins College, London from 1999 to 2003. We have received financial support from the College and from Arts Council, England.
